Terms of Use
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Meadow, the publisher of Meadow. They cover your use of the Meadow app and of this website. Read them together with the Privacy Policy, which explains what information the app handles.
By downloading, installing or using the app, you accept these terms.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the app.
What the app does and does not do
The Meadow app is a food diary. You log meals and symptoms, the app compares your meals with the sensitivity profile you set up, and it shows patterns over time. It flags foods that may be worth discussing with your doctor.
The Meadow app is not medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor or another clinician. This notice is shown in the footer of every page of this website:
Meadow is a food diary, not medical advice. Talk to your doctor about symptoms or before you change what you eat. Meadow is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.
The app does not tell you what is causing your symptoms. A reading that flags nothing does not mean a food suits you. The patterns are for you to review with your doctor, and you should talk to your doctor before you change what you eat. In an emergency, call your local emergency number instead of using the app.
AI-generated readings
When you scan a meal, the photo is sent away so an AI system can read it, and the reading comes back to your app. Questions you ask in the app travel the same way. The Privacy Policy explains who receives them and how they are handled.
Readings and answers are generated by AI, so keep these limits in mind:
- A reading can be wrong or incomplete.
- A reading comes from a photo. It cannot see cross-contact, the oil something was fried in, or what went into a sauce.
- A new reading stays unconfirmed until you rename it or confirm it.
- Do not rely on a reading, or on an answer to a question you ask, for a decision about an allergy, an intolerance, a medication or any other medical matter. Treat it as a prompt to check with your doctor.
Your subscription
The app is offered as a subscription. It shows the trial, the price and the renewal terms before you subscribe.
Free trial
Both plans start with a 3-day free trial, for new subscribers only. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it converts to the paid plan you chose. The store decides whether a trial is available to you.
Prices
After the trial, you pay the price of the plan you chose. Each price is the amount billed for that period, set in US dollars. The store may show it in your local currency.
- Weekly plan: $2 per week
- Yearly plan: $50 per year
Prices can change. If the price of your plan changes, the store tells you before your next renewal and, where it requires your agreement, asks for it. Until then you keep paying the price you signed up at, and if you do not agree to a change you can cancel before the renewal. The store adds any taxes that apply where you live.
Renewal, billing and refunds
Renewal works like this. Renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged.
You pay through the App Store or Google Play, and the store's terms apply to the payment. The store handles billing and cancellation, so to cancel, use the settings of the store you subscribed through. Deleting your data in the app does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds for a store purchase are handled by the store that billed you, under that store's own rules. To ask for a refund, contact that store. We cannot refund App Store purchases, and we do not promise refunds outside the store's rules.
If you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, use Restore purchases in the app to bring your subscription back.
Your account and your data
You do not need an account or an email address to use the app. The app creates a guest ID for you instead. Scans, questions, purchase records and usage statistics are tied to that guest ID, not to your name. Reinstalling the app creates a new guest ID.
The Privacy Policy lists the data kept in the app on your phone, the data that leaves it and who receives it.
To delete the data kept on your phone, choose Delete my data under You in the app. To ask for anything else to be removed, follow the steps on the Data Deletion page.
You keep ownership of what you enter, such as your meal photos, symptoms and questions. You give Meadow a limited licence to process that content, including by sending it to third parties that help provide the app, only to run the app for you: to read a scan, answer a question and apply usage allowances. The readings the app returns are for your personal use. Meadow owns the app and everything in it other than your content.
Acceptable use
Use the app for your own food diary. Please do not:
- break the law or another person's rights when you use the app;
- send photos or text that you have no right to send;
- try to break, overload or interfere with the app or the servers behind it;
- copy, resell or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows.
Photo scans and questions are included in both plans, subject to fair use. Fair use means normal personal use of your own food diary. If your use is far above what a typical person needs, or looks automated, we may slow it down, limit it or ask you to stop.
We may limit, suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the app, or use it in a way that puts the app or other people at risk. Where we can reach you, we tell you why. Ending your access does not cancel your subscription: cancel it in your store account to stop being billed. You can stop using the app at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Meadow is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, that come from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for anything connected to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
The app and its readings are provided as they are, with no promise that they are accurate, complete or always available. The app is a food diary, not medical advice, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Talk to your doctor about symptoms or before you change what you eat.
Governing terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Meadow is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes are heard in the courts located there, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
If you have a problem, write to us first at the support address below and we will try to sort it out. If we cannot, the dispute goes to the courts described above. These terms do not include an arbitration clause or a class-action waiver.
Apple's standard end-user licence terms apply to copies of the app from the App Store, and the Google Play terms apply to copies from Google Play. If they conflict with these terms on a point they cover, the store's terms apply to that point.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated by Meadow. The effective date and version at the top of this page show which version you are reading. We post any update on this page with a new effective date and version, and it takes effect when posted. For a significant change, we may also tell you by email or another way we can reach you. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not agree, stop using the app and cancel your subscription in your store account.
