Data Deletion

Effective date
September 29, 2026
Version
0.1

This page explains how to delete your data from Meadow, the app from Meadow. You can delete your data yourself in the app, which also erases the copies held on our servers. You can also ask us to delete them by email, as set out below. Read this page together with the Privacy Policy.

Delete your data in the app

In the app, go to You → Delete my data.

  1. Open the app and choose You.
  2. Choose Delete my data.
  3. Read the message, then choose Delete to confirm.

This erases the data kept on your phone and starts the app again from the beginning. What it erases is listed under What is deleted. It cannot be undone. To keep a copy of your diary first, use You → Back up & restore.

Copies held on our servers under your guest ID are erased too.

Data held on our servers

You do not need to reinstall the app to ask us to delete the copies held on our servers. Email support@fooddiaryapp.com and say that you want your data deleted.

In your message, include your guest ID. You have no account for us to look up, so your guest ID is how we find your data. The app shows it under You → Data & privacy, where you can tap it to copy it.

Copies that were passed to a third-party AI provider so a meal could be read: we cannot delete these. The provider holds them under its own terms and privacy policy.

What is deleted and what we keep

What is deleted

Choosing Delete my data in the app erases these from your phone:

  • Your diary
  • Your symptoms
  • Your sensitivity profile
  • Your meal photos
  • Ask Meadow questions

These are also erased from Meadow's servers, whether you delete in the app or send us a request:

  • Meals you scan. The photos and AI readings held on Meadow's servers.
  • Ask Meadow questions. The questions held on Meadow's servers.

What we keep, and why

Deleting your data does not remove these:

  • Meals you scan. The photo and its AI reading go to Meadow's servers and to a third-party AI provider, so the meal can be read. The copies held by the third-party AI provider are not deleted, because we cannot delete them.
  • Purchase records. Held by Apple, Google and a third-party subscription provider. Kept so a subscription can be checked and restored.
  • Basic usage statistics. Counts such as screens opened and meals logged, with no meal names, ingredients, allergens, symptoms or free text. You can switch them off in the app. Kept to count how the app is used, so it can be improved.

How long it takes

Deleting in the app takes effect on your phone when you confirm. For a request you send to us, we delete the copies held on our servers immediately once we receive it.

Before you delete

Deleting the app or your data does not cancel your subscription. If you want to stop being billed, cancel in your store account first. Renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged.

Your guest ID is shown in the app under You → Data & privacy, where you can tap it to copy it. Choosing Delete my data does not change it, but reinstalling the app or clearing its data starts a new guest ID.

Patterns, never diagnoses. Meadow suggests, you decide.
